DOUBLE FEATURE- Clara Bow stars in a drama, and a romantic comedy - "Dangerous Curves" (1929), and "True to the Navy"

True to the Navy (1930 - 71 min) Clara Bow's flat Brooklynese voice seems perfectly suited for the rowdy goings-on in True to the Navy. The "It" girl plays Ruby Nolan, owner of a drug store frequented by she-sick sailors. Each of the gobs assumes that he's the only man in Ruby's life, and when several of her boyfriends converge upon the pharmacy all at once, they tear the joint apart. Undaunted, Ruby pursues a romance with seafarin' man Gunner McCoy (Fredric March), who comes in mighty handy when our heroine is victimized by crooked gamblers. The spectacle of distinguished actor Frederic March in sailor togs, chewing gum and dispensing sez-you dialogue, is worth the admission price in itself.

Another Clara Bow Must Have! November 10, 2008
Reviewer: Evan J. Chase from Toledo, OH United States
When one mentions Clara Bow, I think of a sweet, sexy vivacious woman who was the rage of Hollywood during the silent and early sound era. This picture showcases her flirty talent so well! Don't miss her then husband Rex Bell as Eddie, one of her sailor boyfriends. She is indeed a female player in this picture and the backdrop of the drug store soda fountain is a lot of fun. Also livening up the proceedings is comedian Harry Green, as the Jewish stereotyped drugstore owner. Transfer of this rare title is very good, so don't miss it!
